Privacy Policy

ClockClock is a brand by the artist studio Humans since 1982. Humans since 1982 AB is a company based and registered in Stockholm, Sweden, organisation number 556905-3928. “ClockClock Connect” (the APP) is provided free of charge and completely as is.

This Privacy Policy will explain how Personal Information is collected, used, disclosed as well as explain your data protection rights during the usage of our APP. By installing and using the APP you agree to the use of your Personal Information in accordance with this policy.

What data can the APP access?

When you use the APP in combination with a compatible ClockClock, the APP will be able to access a list of nearby WiFi networks and search for compatible hardware devices within the network you are connected to.

Once you connect the APP to a ClockClock, the APP can access and alter all user settings present on the ClockClock hardware, including timezone settings and scheduler settings. Furthermore, it can read technical information, e.g. the firmware version and the serial number.

What data do we collect?

The APP does not collect any of your personal data.

All your APP settings are stored and processed directly on the clock. Please note: if you should choose to connect a ClockClock to a network with internet access, the ClockClock itself may connect to our Support Servers. This happens when you e.g. download and install a firmware update. When looking for an applicable update, the ClockClock will transmit the following information:

  • Current firmware version
  • Current App version
  • Serial number
  • User settings (e.g. timezone)
  • Network settings

Why do we collect data and how do we use it?

We collect this data to ensure the proper functioning of your ClockClock hardware, e.g. to provide you with the correct update for your ClockClock model. Also, in case you would need support assistance, we can use this data to help you with resolving potential hardware and software issues.

Furthermore, we use this data to improve our existing ClockClock editions and to provide you with the best possible functionality. For this reason we may compile collected data, like e.g. the animation mode, into anonymous usage statistics. This means we strip all individual information, like serial numbers, from the data before using and storing it.

What are your data protection rights?

Humans since 1982 would like to make sure you are fully aware of all your data protection rights. Every APP user is entitled to the following:

  • The right to access: You have the right to request copies of any Personal data from Humans since 1982.
  • The right to restrict processing: You have the right to request that Humans since 1982 restrict the processing of any Personal data, under certain circumstances.
  • The right to object to processing: You have the right to object to Humans since 1982 processing any Personal data, under certain circumstances.
  • The right to data portability: You have the right to request that Humans since 1982 transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

If you make a request, we will respond within 2–4 weeks. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us on our contact details as listed in section: “How to contact us” below.

Encryption and transfer of data

All communication with our Support Servers is fully encrypted. The connection between the APP and your ClockClock is also encrypted during the network setup process. Please note: Basic communication between the APP and the ClockClock, e.g. when you change the time zone, is sent as clear text (JSON) over your local WiFi.

Where do we store your data and whom will we share it with?

As mentioned in the section “What data do we collect”, we only receive data when the ClockClock itself connects to our private Support Server, located in Stockholm, Sweden. We do not share any customer specific data with third parties.

Third parties

This APP is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. These services have their own Privacy Policies that are separate from ours, so we advise you to carefully study their handling of your personal information.
